A workshop and presentation giving information and advice on the 1000’s of jobs available every year from Glasgow City Council, Strathclyde Police, Glasgow Works and Job Centre Plus.
12.15 – 13.00 Introducing Assistive Technology with Concept Northern with Jason Knight, Head of Training
A lively demonstration session with Concept’s Head of Training, Jason Knight, introducing assistive software and equipment to aid independent and inclusive living. Jason’s demonstration will showcase the KNFB Reader, a mobile phone with revolutionary screenshot and text-to-speech software powered by Kurzweil which allows the user to capture any text and have it read back to them in seconds, as well as the FarView, a portable electronic magnifier which helps visually impaired users view and capture images and text, and Dragon Naturally Speaking, the worlds best-selling speech recognition software, where Jason will demonstrate the software by creating documents, emails and browsing the internet all by using his voice.
13.30 - 14.30 Creative Training Unlimited
Amy McDonald of CTU will perform and facilitate an interactive theatre session focusing on issues surrounding employment and disability. Together with Gayle Smith of GCIL, they will go in role to highlight the concerns of both a disabled employee and an employer. Drama enables the key issues, hopes and fears to come alive and creates a forum for immediate discussion. They do the acting and ask you to observe and share your opinions and ideas in what promises to be an empowering and thought-provoking session.
