HASC 2011 A HUGE SUCCESS
The inaugural Housing Adaptations Scotland Conference was a great success with one of the highlights being Aidan Grisewood, Deputy Director of Social Housing, making a major funding announcement in his keynote speech...
"Alex Neil, the Cabinet Secretary for Infrastructure and Capital Investment, has listened carefully to concerns, and agreed that we should return to the previous grant eligibility used in 2010-11 to ensure that these crucial adaptations for older and disabled people can proceed.
Accordingly all grant claims already submitted, and all future grant claims during the remainder of 2011-12, will now be paid against previously published guidance and in line with the total sums allocated in the 2011/12 Aids and Adaptations Programme Agreements. .However, in line with HIGN 2011/05, where possible, we still encourage RSLs to make a contribution, if that is practical, to allow more adaptations overall to be funded.
We will now conduct a full inclusive consultation exercise with all relevant stakeholders, in conjunction with the Adaptations sub group of our Wider Planning for an Ageing Population group, on possible grant changes from April 2012 onwards. The consultation will ensure we are better able to advise Ministers on the full impact of any potential grant eligibility changes, and we look forward to working with the Adaptations group and other stakeholders on that."
What our delegates said:
"A great day of learning and networking - lots of different perspectives from different people on the day"
"Got a huge amount out of my time at HASC. Great to catch up with suppliers and the latest products out there and the clients who could give us a perspective on being the end users of our services"
"Will look forward to coming back to a bigger and better HASC next year - well done"!
"Lots and lots of food for thought. Very well organised indeed"
